Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some answers to the most common questions about Disney Commuter Assistance. For help, please contact us, or visit Disney Commuter Assistance on Backlot.

Who can use DisneyCommuterAssistance.com?

The DisneyCommuterAssistance.com website was developed to serve as a one-stop shop for Disney employees and Cast Members across the nation. Employees and Cast Members are encouraged to use this site to find carpool partners, vanpool groups, potential transit routes, and bike or walk buddies. In addition, Commuter Assistance participants will need to log their rideshare activity through this site to stay active in the program. Any employee or Cast Member that has a Hub ID and email address can use the site.

What happens when I register?

You are now able to participate in Disney's Commuter Assistance program! Whether it be by biking, walking, carpooling, vanpooling or using public transit, our website will help you track your commute, find carpool and vanpool matches, and much more. When you run a carpool match, you will receive a list of Disney employees or Cast Members near you who are also interested in sharing the ride. The matches are primarily based on origin and work schedule. Registering does not obligate you to participate, but we do hope it motivates you!

Is my personal information secure?

Yes! Your home address will never show on a carpool match list.

By default, people who match to your commute will see your first name, commute preferences, your email address, and your work phone number. You can also choose to hide all information and not show on match lists by changing your Personal Settings.

Could anyone have a schedule as crazy as mine?

Believe it or not, yes! Rideshare matches are based on work location and cast scheduling information that is updated almost daily. However, people who have irregular schedules are normally better candidates for carpools than for vanpools.

What's the difference between a carpool and a vanpool?

Both are very similar in that they mean sharing a ride with other people while saving money! Vanpoolers tend to save more money because the vehicle, maintenance and insurance costs are split between many people. Carpools use a personal vehicle and have less people to share the costs, but are also more flexible and easier to form.

Why isn't anyone contacting me about carpooling?

Possibly because your future carpool partners are sitting at home asking the same question. Be proactive! Run a carpool match list through DisneyCommuterAssistance.com and email or call someone from your match list. The new website also features the ability to set auto-notifications so that you are automatically contacted when future registrants match your commute profile. If you choose not to set up an auto-notification for matches, then check back in regularly to see if you can find new matches as new participants and updated schedules are being added daily.

Why do you recommend that I use my work email address?

All email addresses require confirmation before the system enables you to search for carpoolers. Often people searching for carpool partners are most comfortable searching when they see their own employer group.

Don't have a work email address?

No problem, you can use a personal email address.

I forgot my UserID. What can I do?

Your UserID is your Hub login.

I work at two different work locations. What can I do?

If you have two different worksites, then you can create two different commute profiles with different addresses. Matches and routes will be generated for each of your profiles.

How do I find a recommended route for transit, cycling, or walking?

After registering and creating your account on DisneyCommuterAssistance.com, all links under the “Find My Commute Options” tab will be enabled. From that tab, you can choose from the different commute options and view routes as well as potential matches.

Why do some areas have different monetary incentives for sharing rides than others?

The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) has adopted rules in Southern California, requiring large companies to incentivize employees to drive less and use public transportation options. At Lucasfilm, a program existed prior to the acquisition by Disney, which they have decided to continue. At Aulani, parking is a huge challenge for both guests and cast on busy days, so the incentives there are an effort to reduce overall parking demand.

Why do some areas have "Emergency Rides Home" (ERH) and others don't?

This also has to do with rules that the South Coast Air Quality Management District has implemented, requiring large companies to encourage employees to leave cars at home. An Emergency Ride for an unplanned schedule change is a basic of plans with monetary incentives in place to encourage sharing the ride. In some cases, costs are covered by the company. In some other regions, public agencies may offer ERH programs for registered carpools. We are working to keep this website up to date with the latest information for each region.
